Glossary
| OPI | Operational performance indicator: a discipline-level measure the apps compute, such as OEE or MTBF. |
|---|---|
| KPI | Key performance indicator: a headline measure leadership commits to, with a target and thresholds. |
| Pillar index | A pillar rolled into a single 0 to 100 score against target. |
| Portfolio health index | The weighted roll-up of the five pillar indices; the one number for the estate. |
| Leading indicator | A measure that predicts an outcome, such as PM compliance or inspection coverage. |
| Lagging indicator | A measure of what already happened, such as OEE or unplanned downtime. |
| RAG status | Red, amber and green status against a target, to draw attention to exceptions. |
| Event bus | The shared channel each app publishes metrics and events to, and the dashboard subscribes to. |
| Publish and subscribe | The loosely-coupled pattern where apps publish and the dashboard consumes, without direct dependency. |
| Single source of truth | One trusted, lineage-kept value for each metric, read from the owning app, not re-keyed. |
| Lineage | The recorded path of a number back to the raw reading it came from. |
| Asset hierarchy | Equipment to system to site to portfolio: the structure numbers roll up and drill down along. |
| Module licence status | Which app modules are licensed and live at each site, and so which pillars are covered. |
| GARPI™ | The Optimal® benchmark that pillar and portfolio indices can be read against for context. |
| Governance cadence | The daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly rhythm the dashboard is run on. |
FAQ
| Does the dashboard replace the apps? | No. The apps do the operational work; the dashboard rolls up their outputs into an executive view and a governance rhythm. It is a view and a steer, not another operational tool. |
|---|---|
| Where do the numbers come from? | From the apps, over the event bus. The dashboard reads each metric from the app that owns it and keeps the lineage, rather than re-calculating anything. |
| Is it live or a monthly report? | Close to live. Indices update as events arrive on the bus, so the executive view reflects the estate now, not last month. |
| What if a site does not run every app? | The dashboard shows module licence status and marks a pillar as covered, partial or not yet instrumented, so a green pillar is never confused with an unmonitored one. |
| How is the portfolio index weighted? | On agreed pillar weights, owned and visible, so the roll-up is transparent. Any pillar can be opened to the metrics and assets beneath it. |
| How does OptimalOEE™ fit in? | OptimalOEE™ is the newest pillar, publishing production performance from source into the roll-up alongside availability, integrity, asset health and spares. |
