| Predictive maintenance (PdM) | Servicing an asset on the evidence of its condition, just before it would fail. |

| Condition monitoring | Measuring the signals an asset gives off to judge its health. |
| P-F interval | The window between a failure first becoming detectable (P) and functional failure (F). |
| Remaining useful life (RUL) | The estimated time an asset can keep operating before it fails. |
| Anomaly detection | Flagging deviations from an asset’s learned normal behaviour, often across many signals at once. |
| Prognostics | Estimating future health and time to failure from the current trend. |
| Prescriptive maintenance | Predictive plus a recommended action and its expected effect. |
| Sensor-agnostic | Works with any sensor brand, historian or SCADA, without proprietary hardware. |
| MTBF / MTTR | Mean time between failures and mean time to repair. |

FAQ
Do we need to install new sensors?
Often not. OptimalTREND™ is sensor-agnostic and starts from your existing sensors, historian or SCADA. New sensing is added only where a critical asset is not measured. See Value and deployment.
How early is the warning?
It depends on the failure and the technique: earlier signals like vibration can give weeks or months, later ones like temperature give days. The point is to detect at the earliest combined signal and act within the P-F interval.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes, the OptimalTREND™ mobile app, built in Flutter and available on Android and iOS, for asset health, alerts and remaining useful life.
How does it handle false alarms?
Anomalies are multivariate and severity-scored, and the models learn from confirmed outcomes, so attention concentrates on real, developing failures rather than noise.
How does OptimalTREND™ relate to the other Optimal apps?
